What to Expect

Counseling is an opportunity to receive support and experience growth, even during challenging times.

Your first session will be different from your future ones. Our initial meeting is for us to get to know each other and discuss your goals. During the first session, I may ask you:

  • What brought you to therapy?
  • What are your symptoms?
  • How do you hope to improve your life?

This first session is also when I’ll start learning about your history, along with factors that may contribute to your struggles.

In future sessions, we will explore your specific challenges, work on learning how to combat your symptoms and help you continue to improve your mental health.

Ideally, your counseling will be complete when you achieve your goals for therapy, resolving your problem or making it more manageable. Depending on what issues you want to work on, therapy can last a few sessions or longer.
